IRAN RAILWAY TOUR – TRIP ITINERARY

Iran’s railway goes back 80 years and is one of the most successful international projects in Iran. Railways in the north of Iran by passing through mountains and forest ensures beautiful and eye-catching views.

We start our tour from Tehran Railway Station. While crossing the fertile plains of Varamin and Garmsar desert, eat our breakfast in train. After Hable-rud River, we continue the path toward firuzkuh. Before entering the mountainous part of our trip, we will visit the one of the oldest rail station in Bon-e kuh which is limited in its function nowadays but full of the traces of the early years of the railway’s life in Iran.

Then passing through Kabutar dare, Simin dasht and Zarin dasht you will see the nice combination of the colorful mountains with green lands.

Before crossing Gadouk neck you can see the Gadouk station, the highest north railway station and then, Iran’s longest railway tunnel at the time of making it (now the longest tunnel has been constructed on Bafgh-Bandar Abbas road and previous tunnel is the second) By arriving at small Shurab village, we can walk in It and review Iran railway history, and then you’ll see the longest viaduct north of Iran.

Here you can see the combination of creativity and engineering expertise of Iran’s past. They created a unique loop rail track for reducing the height in little distance. our travel is going to continue by train to learn more about the mystery of snake crawled in the mountains and forests of the north of Iran.

Now we can see Shurab waterfall next to the railway track that is useless because of water flow through the layers of the sulfur; that’s why its name has Shurab (salty water).

Then you enter to one of the most attractive parts of the Iran’s railways is known as Three gold lines; where you can see iron railway convolute in the mountains. To find the cause of this nomenclature, you should get the three-way, and discover the cause of it by watching to this beautiful way.as we continue the way to the north while passing through multiple twists we can see a 1000-year-old castle from above as while as we see the first sight of Veresk village.

In continuing the way, you will arrive to Veresk Bridge the master key of north railway tour. There are many tales to build this bridge. while passing over it by train, guides will tell you the story of the bridge. Veresk is not only a bridge name.

In the following way, we can see the top view of Sorkh Abad village with a beautiful loop of railway in its heart. And also we can compare it with one of the oldest photo of the same view of Sorkh Abad. A little bit after you see Espahbod Khorshid cave from inside of train. The cave a long time was used as a natural fortress by generals of Tabarestan. In the mid day the train is on Doab bridge that is the highest viaduct in north of country which we will come back thereby meet the last station; Pol-e-sefid.

In this way, the tunnel No.6 has its history of the many workers which had been killed while working in the tunnel and we can see the small stone remained as the monument so called; Aramgah-okhovat. By coming back to Doab we can enjoy the local bread which is baked in tandoor by local people.

In the way back to tehran we will find a good time to eat our evening meal in a small station in order to redeem the last hours of our tour to make more memorable time.

Our adventure on railway finally ends in Tehran Railway Station.

Most we enjoyed the landscape and wildlife we saw, it was just amazing and not comparable with nature we found in Germany and Europe, one of my greatest experiences! Second we enjoyed the kindness of you guys (Mehdi, Negin and her family, and the two houses we stayed) it was like meeting family and friends 🙂

Everything was arranged very efficiently. Nothing went wrong. Our guide, Mostafa Farhadi, was remarkable. Not only was he a brilliant driver, but his knowledge of the culture, history and contemporary life of Iran was amazing. He also had superb contacts in all the places we visited.
